All you can eat, at an expense

Jan 07, 2012 No Comments by

Situated on the ground floor of Plaza del Mar, right on the Paseo, Wok Wang offers an elaborate Asian buffet featuring Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. A variety of hot and cold starters are available including classic Asian appetizers such as sushi, salads and soups. The main dishes are cooked in front of you at the wok station allowing you to personalize your meal with your own selection of sauces and accompaniments. You might suggest that this is the standard for many of these types of restaurants, however sometimes when this concept it implemented the quality deteriorates, but I am happy to confirm that at Wok Wang this is not the case.

On the contrary, I do think they try to offer too much and their sushi appeared to be paying the price for this. Whilst the wok station and starter options are plentiful and appetizing, if you are a keen sushi fan like myself, your praise for the food quality may come to halt when you come face to face with the sushi selection, a disappointing trait for an Asian eatery.

Despite knowing the all you can eat price prior to arrival, I was still shocked to see it in print when it came to settling the bill. Although the quality was evident, the price was exceptionally high for the offering. Having sampled the buffet at both lunch and dinner, I would recommend visiting for lunch as whilst the food is the same, the price is substantially lower.

If contemplating visiting for dinner, I would take your 30 Euro per head (even more if you want a half decent wine) and spend it somewhere else.

All in All  – A decent Asian meal with a hefty price tag.
