Strike Gold in Golf Valley

Nueva Andalucia has a huge range of restaurants to choose from but the one thing that it lacks is a decent tapas bar. Yes there are tapas places in La Campana, but they tend to be for locals only, so you’ll feel like the Americans that walk into “The Slaughtered Lamb” in “American Werewolf in London” if you pop by.

For somewhere a little more welcoming, try El Dorado, just by the OpenCor in Nueva Andalucia. Run by Hanan, who used to run Freddie Foreman’s Eagles Club in the 80s, this is a great place to grab a cana and a tapa. For sunny days there are tables outside, and you can also perch yourself around a sherry barrel and have a fino or and there are a couple of larger tables inside as well.

It’s the tapas are the main factor at El Dorardo. Freshly made every morning they are displayed on the bar with descriptions in English and the list includes great spare ribs and chicken wings as well as a mighty quiche lorraine. They even stock Worchester sauce to go with it.

Hanan loves his golf, so if there’s any tournament anywhere in the world, it’ll be showing on the widescreen TV and there’s also WiFi in the place. Open from 9 am till about 9pm, El Dorado is popular with golfers, locals and tourists as well. A little pricey but very friendly.
