Sunday Splendour

Almost everyone I have spoken to has visited this restaurant at some time or other. For my first visit, and the destination of my latest review, I decided to sample their Sunday lunch.

Pulling up outside we were met by the Valet. Impressive! On entering the restaurant we were greeted at the door by one of the owners (sisters Daniela or Paola not sure which at this stage,) and shown to our table. A saxophonist played soft relaxing music in the background, a welcome touch. The restaurant was two thirds full and the adjoining bar with sofas’ was busy. I immediately felt relaxed and in good hands. Drinks were served and menus in hand. I opted for the chicken liver pate followed by loin of pork whilst my dining companion decided on cream of tomato soup and roast chicken. A bottle of Chablis arrives chilled to perfection and I acknowledge how much I am enjoying this experience.

Our starters duly arrived, nicely presented and both with that “home made” essence. When we finish, the attentive waitress then enquirers how long we would like to have as a break before our mains, nice touch! Always appreciated but rarely offered.  We take a break of 10 minutes to observe the sisters at work. Nothing seems too much trouble for them and they appear to know each and every diner personally. Our mains arrive on cue, piping hot and wholesome without being unnecessarily fussy – just good old fashioned home cooking. Our clean plates were removed and with the apple crumble and custard ordered I struggled to find a negative surrounding my experience so far, (the carrots on offer with the olives and nuts on arrival looked a bit anemic )but other than that everything was first class!  The bill arrived after complimentary coffees – 56 euros for 2. Not bad for 2 meals and a Chablis. Highly recommended! Well done the sisters! We depart still unsure of which is which but as long as they are there I guess the only problem will be getting a table!
