Rave review of El Rincon

I have lived in Nueva Andalucia with my husband for the past 20 years.

My friend Teresa Benson, who like me has lived on the Coast for over two decades, has just returned from London, so we organised a girlie lunch. Teresa lives in San Pedro and wanted to eat in our usual haunt, Palmeria. After being ignored by the staff and then when we were finally served, we were brought the wrong drinks, so we decided to try elsewhere.  Another friend had recommended Rincon La Sala, so I suggested this to Teresa.

Well, what a difference in service. We were only going to pop in for a drink, but we were so impressed with the ambience and reasonable prices, we decided to stay for lunch. The food was incredible, some of the best I had experienced in Marbella.  We were having such a great time, that when the head waitress came over and explained that Rincon was having a Paella with Lobster special on Sunday; as much paella as you could eat, plus drinks for 50 euros, and there would also be live music, we booked straight away.

Sunday lunch was an even better experience. We ended up staying till 730 in the evening, and I spent the last hour dancing salsa to the live band. We loved the fact that it wasn’t your typical ‘all English’ crowd, there was a great mix of nationalities.  I always think it’s a good sign to see so many Spanish locals in one place.

Teresa reckons that Rincon La Sala has put San Pedro on the map. I think it’s the best place to be in Marbella at the moment. Oh, and we are going back on Thursday, so clear the dance floor.
