Lunch with a View

If you fancy getting away from the UberEssex frenzy that Marbella is about to become this summer – and if you haven’t heard, TOWIE are on their perma orange tanned way again – then a trip up to the white villages is always a good idea.

I grabbed the ravishing redhead and headed for the hills to Casares.

There are a plethora of great ventas and restaurants on the road up to the village, but we decided to do a spot of sightseeing, and, having exhausted ourselves climbing the steep streets of Casares (be warned, it’s better than a step machine) we plonked ourselves down at Casa de Curro. With a view over the picture postcard pretty panorama of the village, I was a little worried that the restaurant might be a tourist trap, but then heard the noise of several Spanish families enjoying lunch at full throttle.

The menus arrived and were simplicity themselves. A huge green salad, starter, main course and either coffee or a dessert for €10. It wasn’t haut cuisine, but simple Spanish food well cooked – salad, a delicious stew, macaroni, entrecote with great chips and two coffees and two waters set me back €23.

Brilliant value and a view to die for!
