They’d be better renting rooms by the hour…

I’ll keep this short, as I know that you are all busy people. When you are scanning the websites looking for a cheap place to rest your weary head, you will come across a few centrally located hotels, all within easy walking distance of the beach, the old town and all the shopping that Marbella has to offer. “Perfect” you might think to yourself “After all, I’m only going to be sleeping there, so it doesn’t have to be the Marbella Club. And its only about €50 and sleeps 3 to a room”

That was the reason behind some friends of mine plumping for the Faro when they came down from the campo for a party. And, as all good parties do, we ended up back at the hotel. The fact that the receptionist didn’t say anything when our disheveled party sailed in at 3am and headed to their room should have set off alarm bells. But we soon realised that this is the sort of hotel where “guests” tend to rent out rooms by the hour, judging by the slamming of doors, shouting in the corridors and general guttural grunting and groaning.

I left the party, Ray Bans on to greet the dawn at 7am, so can’t tell you what the breakfast was like. I do, however, know that the the production team for ITV’s “A Place in the Sun” programme where booked into the Faro by their London office on a recce earlier this year.

They checked out first thing the next morning….
