Known by many as the best Indian eatery West of Puerto Banus with high quality at reasonable prices, it is conveniently located opposite the Crowne Plaza hotel.

Starting with a stunning fish tikka harilyali that had been marinated in green masala and cooked in the Tandoor. This was beautiful, with typically aromatic seasoning from the Kerala region of India, not too hot with a subtle herb infusion that complemented the salmon perfectly. We also tried a banno chicken kebab cooked in yoghurt and herbs with a soft and creamy paneer. The sauce was stunning, a well balanced blend of cardamom and saffron with cashew nuts. The onion bhajis were perfect; lovely and crunchy with a soft and tangy onion filling. The vegetarian option was an inventive papadum roll with mixed vegetables; a softly textured wrap with a spring-roll-like filling. This was a satisfying autumnal dish with just the right amount of heat to make it interesting. The chicken tikki masala had been cooked in their clay oven and was smokey and rich. The chef´s speciality was a garlic chilli chicken dish with robust seasoning without being overpowering.

And finally for those who prefer a little less sauce and a lower fat option, we were served a chicken bhuna cooked in its own juices for a deep strong flavour. Masala provides an impressive repertoire of dishes in a friendly and relaxed environment. Cobra beers continue to be served well into the early hours of the morning…..
