A tourist trap in the center of Marbella

A harsh way to open a review I know, however La Pesquera in Plaza de La Victoria in the old town left me with that impression.

We visited La Pesquera at the beginning of October, and were unfortunately met with indifference. The service was slow to non-existant, being served ten minutes after being seated. I kindly asked them to recommend a wine to compliment our food choices, but this request did not seem to go down well and certainly did not increase the service level.

Upon arrival of our food, we desperately tried to get some sort of reaction from our waiter and once again came up short. It is not the worst food I have ever tried, but certainly not the best considering the price; the vegetables seemed to be canned and the meats and fish were below average.

It is such a shame for a place like this not to show Marbella as the beautiful city it is. I am fortunate enough to live here, meaning I have time to try other places, but would definitely think twice about returning to Marbella had this been my only culinary experience. I hope to stand corrected when we return to complete an updated review.

For the sake of being fair, I would suggest you try their well assorted and reasonably priced tapas bar.
